About the role:

The Director of Flight Operations (DFO) holds responsibility for the strategic leadership of Flight Operations personnel and for the overall safety and operational efficiency of the flight operations department.  The DFO focuses on compliance with regulatory and company operating policies, procedures, and standards.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • To be an accountable leader and support the Flight Operations Management team by creating and driving strategic planning, by being a clear communicator, and by providing consistent and present leadership

  • To ensure compliance with the BCAA regulation and the requirements of the AOC

  • To actively carry out simulator training and associated assessment activity

  • To hold editorial responsibility for the OM Part A and OM Part C, with consistent review and maintenance of manuals within the Flight Operations operation

  • To be responsible for the recruitment and selection of all flight crew including the designation of aircraft commanders and training personnel

  • To oversee the maintenance of all company records for flight operations and training, to ensure that all flight operations crew are properly licenced and authorised

  • To carry out and lead with best practices for safety on a consistent basis

  • To conduct regular auditing of the flight operations standards in action and ensure compliance across the organisation

  • To keep up to date with equipment developments and on flight operational procedures

About you:

As an experienced Management Captain, you will need to hold:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Flight Operations Management

  • Current Type Rating on B737 aircraft - PIC

  • An in-depth knowledge of Aircraft operating systems and operating procedures.

  • An in-depth knowledge of the relevant Civil Aviation rules relating to Texel Air WLL flight Operations.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English Language skills.

  • A proven ability to listen, advise, co-ordinate and negotiate is essential.

  • Proven computer literacy skills in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • The ability to work through tasks, projects, challenges, concerns, and queries from start to completion.

TECHNICAL PILOT

About the role:

The Technical Pilot is a subject matter expert when it comes to the technical operation of the aircraft and associated equipment. This includes responsibility for maintaining up to date knowledge of the systems on the B737NG aircraft, for understanding of company operations and equipment in use by Flight Operations, by providing guidance in the resolution of technical issues and suggesting/implementing changes that will positively impact operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Aircraft:

  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of aircraft operational systems.

  • Assisting Engineering & Maintenance with the resolution of defects that require a Flight Ops input.

  • Reviewing and suggesting changes to operational products and procedures.

  • Maintaining the annual validity of the Winter Ops procedures and Holdover Times sourced from the FAA Holdover Guidelines and stored on Q-Pulse.

  • Be familiar with engine out procedures.

  • Be familiar with the regulations of EDTO and produce normal & contingency operating procedures and escape routes (in conjunction with OCC).

Boeing:

  • Acting as the MBF Account holder.

  • Liaison with Boeing for pilot and aircraft related matters (non-engineering).

  • In co-ordination with the Chief Pilot and MFCT, managing input and changes for custom QRH, FCOM/FCTM revisions.

  • Monitoring update notifications for the AFM.

  • In coordination with OCC, maintaining the OPT in regard to aircraft performance and Weight and Balance.

Manuals/Documentation:

  • Reviewing all incoming technical literature related to the technical operation of the aircraft and making recommendations to the Director of Flight Operations regarding embodiment action.

  • In co-ordination with the Chief Pilot, MFCT and Technical Services Engineer, maintaining the MEL including monitoring notifications from Boeing of updates to the MMEL.

  • Ensuring appropriate operating procedures exist for the use of EFB’s and associated software.

IT equipment (in coordination with the IT Manager):

  • Taking responsibility for the operation of the EFB’s including ensuring software is at the latest version at all times and acting as Administrator for such.

  • Providing input and advice as required into the operation of the software on the EFB’s.

  • Issuing and tracking pilot/aircraft issued inventory.

  • Maintaining and replacing pilot issued equipment and accessories.

  • Evaluating new purchases/equipment upgrades.

  • Maintaining and replacing aircraft accessories e.g. printer.

  • Creating operational solutions for aircraft/crew/equipment use.

Weight and Balance (in conjunction with OCC):

  • Maintaining current weight and balance data for aircraft.

  • Tracking changes to aircraft and onboard equipment weights.

  • Revising aircraft OEW and incorporating into OPT and Load Forms as required.

  • Managing revisions, printing and distribution of Load Forms.

    Projects:

  • Carrying out special projects related to enhancing the technical status of the fleet.

Investigations:

  • Providing technical input into investigations as required.

About you:

As an experienced Pilot, you will need:

  • To be a B737 rated pilot on Classic and NG with a minimum of 5 years flying experience.

  • An in-depth knowledge of Aircraft operating systems and operating procedures.

  • An in-depth knowledge of the relevant Bahrain Civil Aviation rules relating to Texel Air WLL flight Operations and Airworthiness.

  • Proven ability to work effectively with regulators and suppliers.

  • A strong attention to detail and pragmatic in approach.

  • A competent communicator with an ability to command respect.

  • Professional with a focus for continuous improvement.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English Language skills.

  • Proven computer literacy skills in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • The ability to work through tasks, projects, challenges, concerns, and queries from start to completion.
